Jasmin Vardimon & Body Memory

I have just discovered by sheer coincidence this video interview with Jasmin Vardimon about the making of Yesterday, that we are all watching this Thursday in Birmingham. And amazingly she talks about 'body memory'.

It's a beautiful interview with seductive footage from Yesterday.

Here is the link. Please copy and paste onto browser to watch.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the footage and the interview.

The video was some what quite interesting to watch.
When Jasmin begins to talk about body memory she describes it in a way which makes us think "oh yeah i remember what she is saying and thats how i want to word it on the blog".
She talks about a large break for 6 months which the company had then did a run when they got back together and they all managed to remember the routine which is some what quite amazing. It is clear that this is through body memory and not mind memory simply because the body remembers how it once acted for a large amount of time.
One of the dancers talks about how demanding the performance is but mainly the process. For myself it is important to understand that people will find the sessions very difficult, but if we remain focused at all times the outcomes will be very rewarding which the actor talks about in the video.
After watching the video i am looking forward to watching the piece of theatre and hope to take home some ideas and suggestions which could be used and altered in our performance.

Wow.
What an amazing woman. I almost didn’t watch the video, because I didn’t want to go into the theatre on Thursday with any preconceptions, but I am so glad that I chose to what that, but also slightly confused.
After writing my post about last weeks session, I went back and read everyone else’s post and then watched this video, listening to how Jasmin talks about body memory, and I have to admit, everyone has so many different thoughts about what body memory is, and I feel as if I have gone off on a major tangent.
But anyway, it inspires to know that with all the other commitments Jasmin has like being a mother for example, which no doubt is emotional as it is, to then have that emotional passion to her work is nothing less than mesmerising. And her dancers have so much respect for her; it just makes her even more of an amazing grounded woman.
I really cannot wait to watch the performance on Thursday, and watch it live. This 'taster' has made me really excited about what I am going to see.
Thank you for posting Royona.
